Meeks Bay is located on the West shore of Lake Tahoe. It has a nice campground located close to the sandy beach. It also has a nice harbor and boat launch ramp if you would like to take your boat.
Besides enjoying the beach and camping, we also went hiking. We drove to Emerald Bay which is about 10 miles South of Meeks Bay. Our hiking destination was Eagle Lake, which goes up into the mountain overlooking Emerald Bay. Total distance is 1.2 miles each way, but it is rather steep. The hike has spectacular views in every direction.
